ThunderEcho Drums introduces
"Trash Kat™." Created by Cleveland drummer Kevin Reed, Co-owner of
ThunderEcho Drums, the Trash Kat™ is a new patent pending drum that
combines an urban look with a thunderous, resonant sound.
Trash Kat™ is a 20" floor tom
Corrugated, galvanized shell
is 22 5/8" tall
Single ply, oversized, clear
head accents metallic features
Three legs adjust playing
height from 24" to 33 1/2"
The Trash Kat™ can be used to
complement a traditional drum kit or as a stand-alone auxiliary
percussion instrument. It can be played with sticks, mallets or
hands.
The Trash Kat™ is versatile. It
has been used by rock bands, has accompanied college jazz choirs,
recorded on studio tracks, marched with a strap, played in steel
drum ensembles, used as pulse-keeper in drum circles and even has
been called "poor man’s timpani" when substituted in an orchestra
pit.
Kevin Reed began developing this
product while recovering from a catastrophic work injury. Suffering
massive brain and spinal injuries due to a co-worker toppling a tree
upon him, doctors said that he would not survive the night. Defying
authority, Reed hung on, falling into a 75-day coma. His family was
told he would remain in a "persistent vegetative state." Not so.
He has spent eleven years and over
2500 rehabilitation sessions reclaiming his life. Music has been the
foundation of his recovery – from tapping rhythms on his back brace
long before he relearned to talk and move, to practicing hitting a
drum with a drum stick Velcroed to his paralyzed hand. Reed always
felt that things would get better - and they have, through his love
of drumming, laughter and determination.
